Week 25 of Pregnancy

FACTS:

Your baby’s bone centres are beginning to harden and tiny veins are now clearly visible through its skin. It should now be possible to hear your baby’s heartbeat through a stethoscope or a special foetal trumpet.

Your baby’s brain is now showing similar waves to those of a newborn.

Measuring about 27cm in length, your baby can now respond to internal sounds as well as external sounds including music and the sound of voices. It will also respond to touch.

TIPS:

Playtime can be a fun-time for the three of you. If you press on a small heel or elbow sticking out from your belly, you will feel your baby kick or spin inside you.

Reduce your intake of fatty foods. The next few months is a growing phase for both of you. Eat sensibly for optimum energy and nutrition. For inspiration, click here

This is a crucial and vulnerable time for your baby’s brain development. Try to abstain from alcohol. You will both benefit in the long run.
